A young woman who has been single for nearly three years says she's been unlucky in love because she doesn't go out scantily clad or go home with men on the first night.

Fed-up Aoife O’Callaghan - who described herself as "old-fashioned" - blasted the state of today's dating scene and the expectations on women after they meet someone.

The 27-year-old said there's too much pressure on women to look "perfect" and hop into bed with someone not long after meeting them.

Aoife, an accounts manager, told the Irish Mirror she's being overlooked by men because she's "normal".

Aoife, from Castleknock in Dublin, said: "I think I’m being overlooked because I’m not perfect, girls these days are expected to look so perfect.

"If you get talking to someone and you don’t want to go home with them straight away, that's it you’re gone.

"I’m pretty old-fashioned. I’d rather - if I do meet someone on a night out - swap numbers and go on a date before going on to the next stage.

"But nowadays, if you don’t go home with someone, they immediately reject you."

She thinks she has met "the one" yet because she doesn't go out wearing skimpy clothes and loads of make-up like the women that men seem to flock to.

Speaking on the Ryan Tubridy Show on RTE Radio One, she said she would "be pretty simple" when she goes out.

She added: "I do my hair and I do my make-up but I wouldn’t have the likes of fake tan , HD brows, fake eyelashes, fake nails... the works.
