One of the 3,637 students graduating, Tonderai Dombo, who is the immediate past  SRC president, raised a placard before Mugabe that read “Graduated today, unemployed tomorrow.”

US airstrike hits 'wrong target' killing Somali soldiers, locals protest

A United States airstrike in central Somalia on Wednesday targeting al-Shabaab militants is reported to have killed 22 soldiers and injured 16 others. The commander of the Somali National Army, General Ali Bashi Mohamed confirmed the casualty on Thursday saying al-Shabaab fighters were not killed in the attack.

Sudan government accused of chemical weapons attacks in Darfur

At least 250 people including dozens of children may have died as a result of exposure to chemical weapons in the Jebel Marra area of Darfur. Amnesty International says it has evidence that Sudan’s government carried out at least 30 likely chemical weapons attacks in the area since January.

Teen kills father, opens fire on schoolyard in South Carolina

A 14-year-old South Carolina boy shot and killed his father then drove to an elementary school playground where he shot and wounded two children and a teacher with a handgun before being tackled by a firefighter who held him till the police arrived, authorities said on Wednesday. The suspect, whose name has not been released, was accused by police of fatally shooting his 47-year-old father, Jeffrey DeWitt Osborne, then driving a pickup truck about 2 miles (3.2 km) to Townville Elementary School where he crashed into a fence surrounding the playground.

MTN rejects claims it transferred $14bn out of Nigeria illegally

South African telecoms giant  MTN  has strongly refuted allegations that it had illegally repatriated $13.92 billion from Nigeria, saying the claim was without merit. Legislators in the Nigerian senate agreed on Tuesday to investigate the allegation that MTN , Africa’s biggest telecoms company, illegally transferred the money out of the West African country.

BRT piloting to resume Wednesday In Accra, Ghana

The National Communication Authority (NCA) has been called upon to establish a compliance testing laboratory to test the safety levels of mobile phones that are brought into the country. The head of Physics at the Radiation Protection Institute (RPI) of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, Dr Joseph K.
