The Lagos State Government at the weekend confirmed the shutting down of HJ CLAIROOWEN medical centre where 15-month-old Taye died during blood transfusion. Taye, a twin girl, was referred to the clinic by a paediatrician at Igando General Hospital Dr. Joy last Sunday evening in curious circumstances shortly after her mother, Taiwo, rushed her to the public hospital for medical attention. In an interview with Mrs Modupe Yusuf of the Channels TV, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has said that INEC was extremely biased against the APC in the just concluded general elections.  He said; “I have huge reservations about the way INEC conducted this election. INEC bias against APC is so clear. “INEC was biased even in the way it dealt with our primaries, INEC was biased in the way in which it selectively used the card readers or the non-use of card readers in some states where it suits them.”

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, has appealed the Ruling of the Tribunal ruling of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, against his no-case-submission. According to sources, by a motion on notice, Justice Onnoghen said the tribunal erred in law when it dismissed the submissions, despite the evidence brought by the defence team, suggesting the invalidity of the case. Mr Onnoghen is facing trial for alleged failure to declare his assets between 2005 and 2015.

The People's Democratic Party PDP had approached the tribunal after it alleged massive rigging of the election by the All Progressives Congress wherin Mr Fayemi was declared the winner after he polled 197,459 votes in the election. A three-member panel of the Court of Appeal, led by Steven Adah, ruled that the January 28 decision of the state election tribunal was meritorious. Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has revoked the bail earlier granted to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. The court presided over by Justice Binta Nyako, gave the order today Thursday and directed that a bench warrant should be issued for Mr Kanu’s arrest since he had failed to appear in court after his bail was granted in April 2017. The matter will continue in Mr Kanu’s absence. The case was adjourned till June 18.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, will on today Wednesday commence hearing on the petition the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, filed to challenge the outcome of the February 23 presidential election. Petitioner seek to invalidate the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner of the presidential contest. The All Progressives Congress has taken another step in slowing down the process for the Peoples Democratic Party PDP. Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has today inaugurated a 17-man Delta State Task Force on Human Trafficking with Hon Barr. Peter Mrakpor (Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Delta State) as Chairman. Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, Mrs Julie Okah-Donli was also in attendance. Other members include; Commissioner for Information Chief Patrick Ukah, Rev Omatsola Williams, Mr Felix Ofou, Amb Caroline Orobosa Usikpedo among others.
