MARYAM ABACHA, A MOTHER SO FORGOTTEN BY HER OWN...

Remembering Mayam Abacha, The cool, calm and collected beautiful Ex- First Lady of Nigeria is a woman and mother to behold for her undeniably quest for development, stability of the nation especially women at large. Once known as miss Maryam Jiddah, married General Abacha in 1965 and nicknamed while in office as the *crusading First Lady* for her role in First summit of African’s First’s Ladies in 1997.  She is undoubtedly an epitome of beauty, She hardly speaks to the press, since her husband died in 1998, Her husband's death may have come as a coup to her, because of its sudden and unexpected timing. According to her, in an interview granted by the *news magazine*  She described her husband was charming, handsome and has a likeable personality, a loving father who loved his children and loved ones, Her words shared the affection Abacha  had given her and her kids . She felt happy when President Goodluck Jonathan awarded her late husband a centenary award and hopes, this will be the beginning of good things to come. She had pet projects which are still on viz a viz, the African First Ladies Peace, The Poverty Alleviation Program, The National Program on Immunization, The Family Support Program, and The Family Support Basic Education and the Family Economic Advancement Program are all still there, as first lady she raised the idea of National Hospital for women and children (NHMC) and later saw its Establishment, this hospital is now known as the National Hospital, Abuja. She raised money and built the hospital within 10 month which was later commissioned by General Abdusalam Abubakar on May 21st,1999 a week to handover. These programs touched lives of people particularly women.

it could be recalled that back in 2011 on 8th of December ,Five armed robbers stunned her resident in Nassarawa Quarters, Kano State  and stole Jewelry with 30 million naira although was recovered.
In November 2012, she had no doubt that her husband was wealthy as he was a business man. She stole the show at the book launch at her former Military Press Secretary Col. John Adeche (RTD).

lets digress a bit, I still believe that if the people of Kano really want her son Mohammed to run as Governor of the state, I see no reason why, he should be knocked out using political gimmicks,  as far as am concerned none of our past, present leaders have done better than the late Sanni Abacha, if he had  killed they also have killed in one way and or the other, let Karma  and God deal with them personally, if he had stolen Govt. funds, they also have done same, some are being caught, some will  be caught and some will never be caught, while some have been caught but cannot be brought to face the wrath of the law. Who is without sin let him cast a stone.

Shortly after the death of her husband, she was stopped at the Aminu Kano international airport with 38 suitcases filled with foreign currencies, as she was ‘on the run' although this was said to be a “fabrication”.  (Make una no quote me oh, but I go talk as I hear). If this was true  she was not properly advised by her fellow “crooks”  or she was sabotaged.

The Government of Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar placed her, her oldest surviving son, Mohammed, Ismalia Gwarzo, Former National Security Adviser and a few others under house arrested, out of frustration and being stranded She angrily  denied knowing any foreign account (if na u, u go agree?).

Any ways the story later changed as Baba, (my personal person) the “anointed” Ex President Olusegun Obasanjo made a transparent deal with the family in other to recover the loot,  fact was, the family was to keep #100 million, this he said was one of the hardest decisions of his presidency. (I really don’t care about the loot as I no see am 4 my area, where dem dey?). I love the yoruba slogan “Ole gbe, ole gba” (onyinbo if u no understand na u sabi). I love this words from her, “is this humane? Is it fair for a Government to fight one family over a few pennies? Obasanjo should have sympathy now,  after all he was a military man”.

Yeah lets I forget, there is the popularly saying that even if they collected all the money from her, she can never be as poor as Dangote. (I no see any strand of evidence for this one oh, if u sees tell me!!!).

After all said and done, she is still loved by those whom she directly showed kindness, hated by those who may have never been victims, but simply because of some unkindly actions taken by her husband. A dedicated mother, wife, and Nigeria's no.1 first lady ever! take it or mourn it. *I still believe in every bad child, there is an atom of uniqueness and love such individuals can exhibit some times in their lives. Instead of putting them away, locking them up in prisons, i think Nigeria should tap from those intelligence these people may have exhibited while being bad. know the real reasons behind their actions* (this is not for  some of our politicians oh,) lock those ones up. ( if you can!)
