ITS NOT ABOUT THE CREAMS OR SOAPS OR MAKE UP, EAT THESE TO GET THAT FLAWLESS SKIN AND GREAT TONE!
Hi everyone, As we all strive to live healthy lives it is important to know what we should and should not be putting in our bodies. For years we have heard about the pros and cons of organic foods. Should we buy them? Or not? Are they really better for us in the long run? Unfortunately the scientific community is still a bit ambiguous when it comes to the hard facts but many scientists, nutritionists, and doctors alike tout the benefits of organic foods.
The United States Department of Agriculture defines organic as foods that “are grown and processed according to federal guidelines addressing, among many factors, soil quality, animal raising practices, pest and weed control, and use of additives. Organic producers rely on natural substances and physical, mechanical, or biologically based farming methods to the fullest extent possible.” Organic foods are those that come from the ground as naturally as possible without the use of chemical additives or pesticides that, according to the National Institute for Fitness and Sport, could cause many adverse health issues such as cancer.
Due to the increasing interest in organic foods many markets are trying to take advantage of consumers with their tactics. Such tactics regarding wording on foods and packaging makes buying organic confusing at times. The term ‘natural’ is not considered organic. According to the USDA the term natural defines foods that are free of synthetic ingredients and that are processed as little as possible. Whereas the term organic defines not only the food but how the food was produced.
One major reason people are flocking to organic foods is that some individuals have allergies or other issues with preservatives and chemicals used in processed foods. By eliminating these ingredients and eating organic foods many people have decreased their health ailments and allergies associated with them. The Food Marketing Institute, which is a non-profit organization that focuses on food safety, education, and more, indicates that “some organic foods also have significantly higher levels of cancer- fighting antioxidants, according to a study of corn, strawberries and marionberries.”
Organic foods are minimally processed, free of pesticides, and grown as naturally as possible. In order to live healthy lifestyles individuals must be knowledgeable about not only the foods themselves but the way in which the food was grown. Eating healthy is vitally important but living an overall healthy lifestyle is even more essential. In order to be healthy individuals must focus on eating healthy and staying active. To increase overall vitality a combination of these two steps is necessary.
There are many steps that individuals can take to ensure a healthier lifestyle when it comes to food. Buy in season fruits and vegetables whenever possible. Take the time to read food labels on boxes and containers as the fewer ingredients that are listed, the better.
Juggling all aspects of life can be hectic but gaining a foothold on healthy living will allow the rest of your life to run a bit smoother.
To your health!
