Despite the the harrowing fact that nine people have been killed attempting to cross the Channel in the last month, families are still risking their lives for the chance of a better life.
These heartbreaking pictures show a
migrant throwing a child over a fence as others cling to the top of a lorry as the Calais crisis deepens.

The pictures emerged as Prime Minister David Cameron today heads a meeting of the Government's emergency Cobra committee about the growing issue.
