“That last Friday, July 17, the former First Lady arrived Port Harcourt International Airport and made for the VIP lounge as had been the practice,
thinking she would still be given her due recognition in the society.

“All efforts by the former president’s wife and the few people by her side to pacify the security agents to allow the long known protocol be, were rebuffed as they stood their ground swearing that they were acting on the orders from Abuja” a source told the newspaper.

“On Dame Jonathan’s return from the burial, the same fate attended her with the same excuse prompting observers to ask if Abuja would give such a directive against the personality and family of the immediate past president. The former first lady, however, took the development with equanimity while she waited to board her flight back to Abuja” the source added further.

Following the backlash that trailed her performance at Shatta Wale's Reign Concert over the weekend, Ghanaian singer,  Fantana  has now released a statement.  The singer stated that she is not ashamed of being a woman and also mesntruating. Her statement read in part;  "Regardless of my costume being transparent, my only option was to put on a sanitary pad and still go ahead to perform. I am a woman and I’m not ashamed of menstruating. "I want to urge every woman to resist being discriminated against because of menstruation. I hope some people read wide and learn about menstrual health to stop the stereotype against young girls and women. "Yes my menses appeared 30 minutes to my performance and I had to put on a sanitary pad and still go on stage. "Menstruation is not a shame and I urge all young women take a cue from my actions and not to let it stop them from doing anything they want to do."
