David Wilson abused three young boys, including his own nephew who turned to heroin after his life was "destroyed"
A paedophile ex-policeman who fled the country after raping and abusing young boys has been jailed for seven years. David
Wilson, 48, appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh for sentence after
being convicted of a sickening catalogue of abuse against three
children. His nephew Steven Wilson, two years his junior, finally plucked up the courage to report his ordeal in 2000, the Daily Record reported. He says the abuse, including an attempted rape, destroyed his life, leading to a heroin addiction. Now clean of drugs, he said yesterday: “Seven years is not much for screwing up other people’s lives for more than 30 years. “I
don’t think this is justice because he’ll be out in less than five
years. But I’m still proud that I and the other victims came forward
because I believe that will protect others. “I think he should have got 20 years, but maybe he didn’t because he posed as a pillar of the community.”

Abuse victim Steven Wilson
Wilson, from Falkirk, was convicted of raping his other two victims, the youngest of whom was only four. Judge
Lord Bracadale told Wilson yesterday: “Your victims have been
significantly affected by your conduct. The only disposal available to
me is to impose a custodial sentence.”
Steven, from Falkirk – who
has waived his right to anonymity to highlight his uncle’s crimes –
believes Wilson’s choice of career and marriage were a cloak for his
evil crimes. He said he would warn him to keep quiet, saying:
“I’m going to be a police officer. If you tell, I’ll put you behind bars
and make your life a misery.” By the time Steven told police of
the abuse, Wilson had already fled the country to live in Montfoort in
the Netherlands with his wife and two sons.
Steven had given up all hope of ever seeing his abuser behind bars. But Wilson chose to come home for his aunt’s funeral last year and was picked up at the airport. The paedophile pled not guilty to all charges against him, forcing his victims to give evidence. Steven,
now 45, added:“He took away my chance of an education – even my freedom
at one point – but now I’m clean and I’ve turned my life around. I’ll
never forgive him for the 35 years of my life he stole from me.” Timeline of Wilson's crimes
1979-83 Wilson began abusing his nephew in December 1979 when Steven was 10 and Wilson was 12. The abuse lasted for four years until December 1983.
1979-85 Wilson was found guilty of abusing a second victim between 1979 when the child was seven until 1985 when they were 13.
1984-88 Wilson
was also convicted of abusing another victim from January 1984 to 1988.
The victim was just four when the abuse started. Wilson was 17. Wilson married at 18 and joined the police in the late 1980s.
2000 Wilson moved to the Netherlands with his wife and two sons. Around the same time, Steven reported his abuse to police.
2014 Wilson flew from Amsterdam to Scotland for his aunt’s funeral. He was snared by police on arrival at Edinburgh airport.
2015 On
July 28, Wilson was found guilty of five offences against three victims
between 1979 and 1988. Yesterday, he was jailed for seven year.
Following the backlash that trailed her performance at Shatta Wale's Reign Concert over the weekend, Ghanaian singer, Fantana has now released a statement. The singer stated that she is not ashamed of being a woman and also mesntruating. Her statement read in part; "Regardless of my costume being transparent, my only option was to put on a sanitary pad and still go ahead to perform. I am a woman and I’m not ashamed of menstruating. "I want to urge every woman to resist being discriminated against because of menstruation. I hope some people read wide and learn about menstrual health to stop the stereotype against young girls and women. "Yes my menses appeared 30 minutes to my performance and I had to put on a sanitary pad and still go on stage. "Menstruation is not a shame and I urge all young women take a cue from my actions and not to let it stop them from doing anything they want to do."
