TWO suspected terrorist thugs with links to Islamic State have been charged with throwing acid in the faces of two British teenage charity workers leaving their with horrendous scars.

Kirstie Trup and Katie Gee, both 18 at the time, were left with horror burns on their faces, upper bodies and hands after being covered with the corrosive liquid by two men on a moped in Zanzibar.
It was thought the volunteer teachers were singled out because they were white.
The sickening attack took place in 2013, but it has taken until now to charge suspects, with help from detectives from Scotland Yard and Interpol who traced the extremists to Tanzania.

The suspected militants who are allegedly members of an extremist sect allied to Boko Haram, have appeared in court accused of the offence, according to a Tanzanian politician Abdulrahman Kinana.
He said the men belonged to Uamsho - which translates as 'The Awakening' - which is a group with known links to Nigerian Islamist extremists Boko Haram.

Boko Haram has pledged its allegiance to the hate group ISIS and has been included as part of its so-called caliphate. 
The two men have now "been charged in court", Mr Kinana wrote in a blog for US political website The Hill. 
They could now face execution, as Tanazina still uses the death penalty for the most serious crimes. 
He wrote: “Assisted by investigators from the British police at New Scotland Yard and Interpol, the Tanzanian authorities later arrested for the crime members of Uamsho or “Awakening”, an Islamic terrorist group with known links to Boko Haram. They have now been charged in court.”
The two teenagers from north London were on the island to help underprivileged children. 
Both are Jewish, but were working as volunteer teachers at a Christian nursery school at the time.

Both had taken special care to avoid wearing anything that would identify them as Jewish because the festival of Ramadan was still ongoing. 
In the days following the shocking attack, Miss Gee’s father Jeremy said her burns were "absolutely horrendous" and "beyond imagination". 
Miss Trup’s father Marc, 51, a multi-millionaire dental surgeon and property developer, said his daughter was "inconsolable".

Tanzania’s president Jakaya Kikwete visited them in hospital following the horrific attack, which took place at the heart of the country's booming tourism scene. 
Local authorities said Uamsho has made cowardly acid attacks against westerners its hallmark as it bids to impose Sharia Law on the archipelago, which is popular for its white sands and crystal blue waters.
