Battered pensioner is showing sign of recovery
The family of battered pensioner Tommy Ward say they have been “overwhelmed” by the support they have received from big-hearted Mirror readers.
Ex miner Tommy, 80, is fighting for his life in hospital after thieves stole his £30,000 life savings and left him for dead.
He received a fractured skull, broken ribs and a smashed jaw in the brutal attack.
His index finger was snapped, leaving just the tendons attached, and a horrific scalp wound had to be stapled from ear to ear during a six-hour operation.
Doctors initially warned
he had just a 25 per cent chance of survival after a bleed on his brain.
I pray for quick recovery for him. Its so sad.
