Heartbroken mum can't scatter son's ashes until dad who killed him gives her permission
The ashes of Kerrie Backhouse’s son Kye have lain in a funeral parlour for over a year after he was drugged by her ex, Kevin Morton
A devastated mum has been told she cannot lay her teenage
son to rest until she gets permission from his dad – who killed the boy.
The ashes of Kerrie Backhouse’s son Kye have lain in a funeral parlour for over a year after he was drugged by her ex, Kevin Morton.
The prescription drug addict was jailed for manslaughter but was still allowed a say in Kye’s funeral.
To Kerrie’s disgust, he even helped carry 13-year-old Kye’s coffin
But Morton, 49, is preventing Kerrie from having any closure by refusing to sign paperwork releasing his ashes.
Kye died after Morton tricked him into taking a super-strength morphine tablet he bought from a dealer – saying it would cure the boy’s headache.
Despite being jailed in July, a legal loophole means Morton shares the same rights as Kerrie over Kye’s remains..
