An emergency nurse discovered the dying hit-and-run patient she was battling to save was her own brother. Jennifer
Medina broke down as she checked the critically injured young man for
identification only recognise brother Cesar's picture staring back at
her from his wallet. “I recognized the wallet...and she opened it up and it was my brother’s face,” Jennifer told NBC Los Angeles.
“Everything just collapsed. I just couldn’t hold it together.” Cesar
- known as Andy, was hit by a truck as he crossed the road in San Juan
Capistrano, California, around 10.10pm on Friday night. The suspected driver, 19-year-old Andrew Christopher Michaels, was arrested Saturday night, police said.

Andy, 23, is believed to have been on a crosswalk, with the
right of way, when Michaels’ Dodge Ram truck struck him, causing him to
fly 20 feet in the air, according to police. Jennifer has now created a GoFundMe page for her family, hoping to raise $10,000. On the page, she shared her horrific experience of the “day I feared the most." “The Dr. tried to bring his heart back but there was too much trauma to the brain,” she wrote.
“Andy
had so many goals for his future and was taken from all of us too soon.
I just want all the people he loved and loved him to get a chance to
say their last good byes to him.”
Following the backlash that trailed her performance at Shatta Wale's Reign Concert over the weekend, Ghanaian singer, Fantana has now released a statement. The singer stated that she is not ashamed of being a woman and also mesntruating. Her statement read in part; "Regardless of my costume being transparent, my only option was to put on a sanitary pad and still go ahead to perform. I am a woman and I’m not ashamed of menstruating. "I want to urge every woman to resist being discriminated against because of menstruation. I hope some people read wide and learn about menstrual health to stop the stereotype against young girls and women. "Yes my menses appeared 30 minutes to my performance and I had to put on a sanitary pad and still go on stage. "Menstruation is not a shame and I urge all young women take a cue from my actions and not to let it stop them from doing anything they want to do."
