Rivers guber : Import of PDP’s documentary evidence

 

Shortly after the Rivers State Governorship Election,  the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) went to town with the false claim that it had documentary evidence to prove that the election that produced Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was marred by violence, over voting and other irregularities.

When they had their day at the tribunal,  the Rivers State APC selectively tendered documents,  which they merely dumped on the tribunal without demonstrating same.
As third respondents in the petition filed by the Rivers State APC and her governorship candidate,  the PDP has chosen to use vital documentary evidence to finally nail the baseless petition of opposition party in the state.
The tendering of the accreditation incident forms used for the Rivers State Governorship Election by the PDP at the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja  further proved that the election was peaceful,  credible and that Governor Wike was validly elected.

The valid election of Governor Wike was further proved by  the tendering of the comprehensive voters registers used for the governorship election and oath of neutrality and affirmation forms by the PDP at the tribunal.
The PDP by its strategic defence of Governor Wike’s election has brought to the fore all due processes followed during the poll by tendering certified true copies of the critical documents used for the governorship election.

The accreditation incident forms used for the governorship election specifically proved that both manual accreditation and card reader accreditation were used for the election.
The PDP has consolidated the defence started by the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) and Governor Wike.  The two respondents earlier called key witnesses such as electoral officers, presiding officers,  a former National Commissioner of INEC, an Assistant Commissioner of Police,  a Divisional Police Officer and a former Rivers State DSS Commander for the governorship election.  The two respondents also called voters from 15 local government areas as witnesses. They all testified that the election was peaceful and credible, contrary to the lies of the non participant witnesses invited by the Rivers State APC.
The critical certified true copies of election materials tendered by the PDP have put paid to the false propaganda that the Rivers State Governorship Election was marred by irregularities.

The PDP has taken time to tender these documents,  so as to inform the tribunal in details that the Rivers State APC lied in all the allegations contained in their petition.
The different  election  materials  are being tendered by  the  PDP  to discredit  false allegations  contained  in  the Rivers State APC petition,  which the petitioner  failed  to  support  with credible  evidence.
The  quantum of documentary evidence  being laid before the  tribunal proves that  the  election  was  peacefully  conducted  with the necessary  accreditation  process duly observed in line with  INEC guidelines.

The public should continue to disregard the falsehood being sponsored by the Rivers State APC on the credibility of the  governorship election.
What the PDP has done is to show that there is a limit to which falsehood can travel. The Rivers State APC failed to tender these documents even though they were released to them upon application to INEC.

As a political party that function on propaganda ,  there was no way that the Rivers State APC would have scored more votes than they did on April 11.
The documentary evidence tendered by the PDP covers all the locations where the APC made wild and baseless allegations.  Recall that the APC made no attempt to support their allegations with proofs. They merely relied on the drama of hearsay evidence.

Under the present political and judicial dispensation,  emotional hearsay stories backed by sponsored propaganda count for nothing.  This much has been registered in the hearts of the Rivers State APC and they have no option than to commence preparation for 2019.
