Cat who vanished six years ago gives owners paws for thought - by turning up half-a-mile from home

When Dizzie the cat went missing six years ago, his owners Emma and Simon Bromfield feared he was lost forever.
But he's just turned up - half-a-mile from home.

Eight-year-old Dizzie vanished in 2009, leaving his owners heartbroken.
But on Monday, Emma, 32, got a call from the RSPCA saying they had found the missing moggy wandering the streets of Swadlincote, Derbys. 

They identified him by his microchip.
The couple rushed to the Hillfield Animal Home in Burton-on-Trent, Staffs, to pick up their long-lost pet and take him back to the family home in Newhall, Derbys.

  "We went along to collect him and recognised him straight away.
"We are so happy to have him home, and our two kids love it that he is back. He's a little bit timid but he's eating.

"I'm sure someone's been feeding him because he's much bigger than he was when we last had him. He's huge now and looks like a big lion."
Jill Astle, cattery supervisor at the Hillfield Animal Home, said: "It was lovely, and actually really emotional to see them reunited.

"It is so important to make sure that you microchip your pets and keep the details updated for instances just like this.
