Museum Experts Find 300-year-old Lost Box and Were Shocked to See What Was Inside (Photos)

Researchers discover 600 secretive letters, many intended for lovers, that were never delivered. More letters after the cut.

The 300-year-old letters locked away in leather trunk shed light on life in the 17th century stories.

The trunk of undelivered letters dating back more than 300 years will be studied by experts who say they will give a unique glimpse into life in 17th century Europe.

They say the historical postal sack - which was recently discovered - has 2,600 missives from aristocrats, spies, merchants, actors and ordinary people - many of whom may have been fleeing religious persecution from Sun King Louis XIV.
