Crystal Palace coach defends striker's signing

The striker was on Tuesday, January 26 unveiled by the Premier League side and will wear shirt no. 25.

Speaking about the signing of the striker who many think is a risk, Pardew revealed he sought the advise of the Tim Sherwood who worked with the 31-year-old at Tottenham.
The Togolese striker flourished under Sherwood, scoring 14 goals in 24 games during the 2013-14 season.

"It’s important to understand his history and talk to people that have worked with him," Pardew said
"I know Tim Sherwood well and I know from Tim that that there’s certain things that Adebayor works with and I’m foolish to ignore them.
"I’ve had messages from Tim via somebody else but I probably will speak to Tim as I go along. I need to work with Ade for a little bit and then I’d call Tim just to finalise my opinion, that is was right.’
After being released from Tottenham last season, Adebayor is still being paid his £100,000-per-week wages bu Spurs which Palace has taken up 70% of.

Pardew said that Adebayor's desire to get his career back on track made him sign the striker.
"I’m hoping that’s a win-win situation for him and for us. You cannot underestimate quality he has. I’ve tried to sign him twice before," Pardew further said.
