Horror as 16 rotting shoes containing severed human feet wash up on the beach

A family were horrified after stumbling across a trainer with a severed human foot inside on a walk along a beach.
In recent years 16 trainers with the grisly remains have been found washed up along the shores of Canada and authorities still have no clear answers. 


Charlotte Stephens and her family were visiting the coast of Vancouver Island when they discovered the shoe with a dismembered foot inside.
Mrs Stephens told CBC News: "[My husband] picked it up and brought it out on to the beach and we had a look at it for about five minutes and we thought, it almost looks like there is an actual foot bone in it."

After the family reported their grim discovery, the British Columbia Coroners Service confirmed the remains are human and investigators are trying to identify them.

Coroner Matt Brown said they are working with police to determine who may have gone missing from the area since March 2013 and December 2015.
