Egypt air suffered a bird strike causing 30cm hole in the plane

This is the shocking damage caused to a passenger jet hit by a bird strike as it landed at Heathrow.

The EgyptAir flight was on its descent into the UK from Cairo with 71 passengers on board when the incident occured.


The bird strike hit the nose of the Boeing 737-800, leaving a huge hole filled with blood and feathers.

One passenger guessed it to be around 30cm in size.

The aircraft, registration SU-GDZ, was able to land safely at Heathrow on Friday at around 4pm.

It was able to return to Cairo on Saturday.
