Former First Lady dies aged 94 after suffering heart failure

 


One of the most famous First Ladies of all time, she was best known for her 'Just Say No' campaign to combat drug abuse.
Nancy, an actress, married Republican Ronald Reagan in 1952 when he was then president of the Screen Actors Guild.


The Reagans were in office for eight years from 1981 to 1989.
Her husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 1994 and died at their home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, in 2004 aged 93.

 The charismatic much-loved wife of 1980s US President Ronald Reagan had been suffering from ill health for some time, and died as a result of congestive heart failure, her family said.

It we  recalled when Nancy sparked controversy when in 1988 it was revealed she had consulted an astrologer to assist in planning the president's schedule after the attempted assassination of her husband in 1981.
After ending his political career the Reagan’s retired to their home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, in 1989.
