Meet the Beautiful Nollywood's Northern Star. Hauwa Allahbura
Hauwa
Allahbura who has come a long way from being the young girl who has
traversed around Nigeria with her customs officer father and as a beauty
queen (Miss FCT 2012); to one of the fresh faces in a Nollywood set to
take its audience by storm.
This
Kanam LGA of Plateau State native had always dreamt of being a talk show
host like Oprah, a dream that has been fulfilled but fate through some
nudging from mentors threw her into the arms of acting and film.
Her
desire for acting started in 2014, triggered by some directors and
producers who saw potential and drive in this young talent, this
propelled and inspired her to strive harder, which led to her going to
Study acting for film in the famed New York Film Academy. She is also a
Ford Foundation and AFRIFF scholar having been sponsored on film courses
by both organisations.
Hauwa
has a recurring role in Mnet’s Tinsel as Maro, a young writer under
Brenda’s tutelage; despite acting for two years, she counts her first
foray into acting in October 2014 in the movie Rovieno. She has worked
with notable names in the industry like, Frank Rajah in 18th
Anniver-sary, Fred Amata in Newmans Street, Wind Chaser, Irresistable
and many others.
She is
currently working on her short film titled Life In Reverse, a story
about a Christian girl saved by a Muslim Woman in the heat of Crisis in
Jos. The aim of the project is to promote unity little wonder as she
speaks Hausa and Yoruba fluently.
Catch
Hauwa in her first lead role in the Femi Odugbemi directed film, Gidi
Blues coming out in the coming months. In her words “Gidi Blues is a
world Class Film that helped me stretch myself as an actor, I fell in
love with the script and it is a film that can be screened any where in
the world, with a story people can connect with”
Suffice
to say, Hauwa is definitely not a shooting star, she is here to take
her rightful place in the constellation of Nollywood’s firmament.
