That the Children of the rich lack the capacity to create their own Wealth is Shameful

The ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives on Thursday into the alleged ‘secret’ recruitment of 909 employees by the Central Bank of Nigeria is comely, but the truth is we need to differentiate between the ''rich kids  from the rich kids''. Are they recruiting the Rich kids in the society i.e ''traders and businessmen rich kids' or the Political rich kids, or the rich kids of those who one way or the other assisted in giving him the position as the CBN governor?

Are the kids of our House members who are debating this issue not affected? How neutral can it get. The youths are tired of all these highly placed individuals who use us to their own advantage. Are they exposing this for the good of the intelligent and non intelligent but hard working youths of the country or simply because their kids were not picked. I bet you if their kids were recruited, we wont hear of this.

The question is, The rich kids have the money, went to the best schools. Are there no job creation they could create to employ the jobless youth and make themselves more famous and richer? Is it still a marigold round? How can You go to the best schools, best training and you come back to hustle for jobs in Nigeria with the less fortunate and privileged ones,  rather than creating jobs? You need to do some thinking people. The funny part of the whole thing is that, when you put some, not all, of the rich kids and that of the average Nigerian child or poor child in a challenge or competition, they fail woefully.

The controversial recruitment was reportedly carried out by the apex bank on the directive of the Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, with a reasonable number of the beneficiaries being children and relatives of highly-placed persons in the country. over 909 of them.

At a session presided over by the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, in Abuja, the House asked its Committees on Federal Character, Banking/Currency to complete the investigation within three weeks.

The recruitment by the CBN is in breach of the Federal Character Principle as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The recruitment breached section 14(1); 14(3); and Section 17(1) of the constitution.

There was no fairness, no justice in this exercise conducted by the CBN not even the usual pretentious exercise of an online recruitment advert..

Well lets hope and believe that this investigation will not be relegated to the ground just like the others before it.

I too want to make common sense.

Lawmakers did not debate the motion before passing it in a unanimous voice vote.

Dogara had overruled any debate on the issue on the grounds that it could pre-judge the outcome of the investigation.

“This is an investigation; let us not allow any debate so that we won’t pre-empt the outcome,” he added.

Meanwhile, the majority of the lawmakers on Thursday endorsed the second reading of a bill for an Act seeking to repeal the People’s Bank of Nigeria Act, 2004.

Members said the bank had become moribund and its functions taken over by the Nigerian Agricultural Bank.

The bill was sponsored by an APC member from Yobe State and Chairman, House Committee on Sports, Mr. Goni Bukar-Lawan.

However, there was some drama as the bill generated arguments among members.

While some lawmakers felt that the bank could still be resuscitated, others held the view that it had since lost its relevance since it had been merged with the Nigerian Agricultural Bank.

But, the majority won the day as Dogara ruled in support of the second reading of the proposed piece of legislation.
