Would some of these authors of newspapers and blogs be this agitated if it were some other motorist not Ibinabo fiberesima?

I think saying that Ibinabo Fiberesima was not sober is as ludicrous as it can get. Did they get a psychologist to evaluate her mood? She spent 3 months and 3 days in prison, could it be that she didnt pay the money on time or she wanted a taste of prison to show how sober she was? What has the media houses done to ensure that the girl pictured above, who had her thigh and legs crushed when a tipper lost control while trying to clear away from the road to make way for a money carrying Bullion Van in Warri is well compensated by the company and the reckless driving of money carrying bullion van that caused that gory accident.
I bet you have forgotten about her but i cant. Let's not get too sanctimonious on this issue.
Accidents happen every minute and it can happen to anyone, due to anyone's negligence. Are we asking that she be treated harshly because she is IF a celeb?? Did she set out to kill the deceased? I sympathize with the guy's family, and yes, this is a horrible loss for no reason. But I don't know that asking for her head is going to relieve the family of their hurt, nor am I convinced that it'd reduce the accident rate by neg infinity.
I have friends who have lost their loved ones this way and nothing happened simply because they were not celebrities. Were are the nigerians who believe that the head of Ibinabo be cut off, have they gone to visit this girl who is alive at the hospital? Please if you have never gone to visit accident victims who are not related to you, please shut up. You are not in head and because you see her happy and showing off does not mean that she is not remorseful at home.
You don't expect her to cry or hide in public as some Nigerians wanted her to do. Am deeply pained by the loss of our beloved doctor, and may his soul now rest in perfect peace. The family needs peace, Even though Nigerians likes pretence, would you have preferred it if she had pretended to give a scholarship to one of the kids and snap pictures with the family for the world to see her give them money blablabla?
let's see how this turns out. She was careless, she paid for it. Is the judgment fair? Well, what judgment would have been fair? Has the Judiciary brought the judge to book? It was the State against her, they got their judgement. If nothing has been done to the judge who gave such stupendous judgment has not been brought to book then we all are a sounding 'konkon' I'm really curious to know what people expected/wish her judgment was. Perhaps death too.
Whenever something happens to a celebrity the press jumps on the news like hawks rushing to be the first to break the news, in their rush some of them don't even bother to investigate or check with the right sources to find out the truth about the story. This is the usual trend with Tabloids Journalism and in a country like Nigeria where people normally don't take the press to court it is rampant, after all papers must be sold but then there are lives, careers that are deeply hurt by this.
Here is an excerpts from IF's side of the story in 2006...
Here is an excerpts from IF's side of the story in 2006...
Soon as the IBINABO FIBERESIMA,s accident occurred, without first waiting to at least hear her own version the Tabloids went to press, having a field day saying She was driving drunk, killed a man and ran away. It was all over the papers and was spreading like wild fire. It caught up with Nigerians in Diaspora and everybody has their bit to say. Meanwhile the person involved is hurting really bad. Finally after printing their stories, the press approached her for her own version. Her reply, “Shouldn't you have done this first before going to press?? after you have destroyed my name, you now want me to give you an exclusive. I have nothing to say to you”
When L.A Khiran got wind of the story through NAIJARULES and felt really sick in his stomach when he read the Drunk Part. He asked her pesonally ''WHERE YOU DRUNK WHEN YOU WERE DRIVING???
Coming from me, according to him ''I knew the question hurts her really bad but I had to ask it.. Her Reply was.....
“Why on earth would I be drunk and still drive? Am I that irresponsible? Nobody even bother to hear my own version before they start spreading the lies. Here is what happened.
''I was driving and this car pulled up behind me almost running me off the road, I swerved to avoid hitting him and lost control. That was the last thing I remembered, I was in coma and woke up two days later in the hospital. The family of the other person later took me to court and when the judge saw my condition he threw everything out of the court. He said “how could you bring a person in such shape to the court? I was still bruised and really sick. Even as I speak to you, my disk is shifted and am in pains but I cant travel out to see my doctor because My passport and everything was stolen during the accident. I am waiting till I can collect a new passport before I can travel out.''
''I was not drunk! I was not! This is getting too much for me, I just wished I had died in the accident it would have been better than all this. Here I am doing the miss earth thing to promote Nigerian culture to the world and I didn't know people hated me this much. I just wish I had died! It was an accident that wasn't my fault and I was not drunk! No I was not!.... The car that caused all of this tried to overtake and block me at the same time. I swevered and hit the curb, and passed out. I woke up in hospital two days later. I heard I was in a coma, and nobody told me about what had happened, till later. I am truly sorry someone lost his life. I will live with that hurt for the rest of my life. I am deeply sorry, but it was an accident.''
I pray this cup pass all of us who has lost one person or the other and at the same time learn a two or three of being emotionally sad the rest of our lives when we kill, whether accidentally or not. Karma would some day catch up with you.
Its just the Truth. True forgiveness supersedes all judgements. Live it! or love it! Its your choice. Free ibinabo.
