Ex-Premier League footballer Cabral 'raped woman twice after spending £1,200 on drinks in nightclub VIP room'
A woman has claimed she was raped by a former Premier League footballer twice after meeting him on a night out.
A court heard the 21-year-old woman met Swiss midfielder Cabral on a night out, where he spent £1,200 on drinks in the VIP room of a Newcastle nightclub.
A jury heard the victim had no idea the footballer, whose real name is Adilson Tavares Varela , was a Sunderland player when she met him in January last year.
The court heard the woman went back to Cabral's rented flat after meeting him in the Tup Tup Palace after a night out with her three friends.
In a DVD police interview, played at Hull Crown Court, the woman told how she danced with the 27-year-old at the nightclub.
They then took a taxi to his home for an after-club party, the jury heard.
She said the girls initially went to his toilet to brush their hair and put on lipstick and were dancing and singing.
She said she videoed her friend dancing in Varela's shower before walking back in to his living room and asking: "Can I have some socks please?"
"He said 'come'. He led the way into his bedroom. I sat on the bed. He did not get any socks. He asked me if I was drunk.

"He turned around and pushed me down on the bed. I said 'stop'! I tried to get up and he pushed me down.
"He tried to kiss me and I tried to avoid it. I said: 'No!' I pushed him off.
"At no point did I ask for sex or give him the impression I wanted sex.
"This was the first time I had met him. I had never seen him before - ever.
"He pushed me further into the bed and sat on me. He started touching my body and breasts.
"He went to the left hand-draw and got a condom out and opened it with his teeth. I said 'stop'.
"I was trying to speak but it was just whisper. My voice was going. I was starting to cry. I tried to shout for my friend."
But she said she knew her pal would not hear because the music was loud.
