Claire Burke went into labour while stuck in traffic with her elder daughter Mia and newborn baby Tori


A pregnant woman who went into labour while stuck in traffic was raced to hospital by two Red Cross volunteers.
Expectant mum Claire Burke, 30, was driving with her eight-year-old daughter last Sunday when her contractions began.

Fearing she'd have to give birth in her car, she tried to drive to her mum’s house but was stuck in road closures and diversions because of the Manchester Marathon.
The pains began to get worse and she realised her baby was coming.
She said: “Every road I went down was blocked off and I started to panic.
“The pains were getting stronger and stronger and I was stressing as I didn’t know where I was or how to get to the hospital.”
Claire frantically tried for another 20 minutes to get herself out of the marathon traffic, before pulling over to ask a race marshall for help.
“I told her I was in labour but I didn’t know my way through the road closures. She didn’t know the area so couldn’t help.
“Luckily a Red Cross ambulance pulled up.”
The two male volunteers loaded Claire and daughter Mia into the ambulance and whisked them to hospital .
Claire, who works for a hearing aid company, added: “They were brilliant. I was in a bit of a state by then as I thought I was never making it to hospital.
“They got my bags out of the car for me and were fantastic with Mia, making her laugh and keeping her calm, which calmed me down.
“When we got to hospital, they even took us to the ward and stayed with us to make sure we were OK.”
During labour, Claire’s baby Tori got stuck and the now mum-of-two says she worries what would have happened she hadn’t got to hospital.
Now she wants to thank the men who helped her out.
She said: “I just want to try and find them so I can thank them and give them a card

"Menstruation is not a shame and I urge all young women take a cue from my actions and not to let it stop them from doing anything they want to do."

EFCC Officials Forcefully Break Into An Expectant Woman's House at 3am

An expectant father has accused EFCC officials of breaking into his home in the middle of the night to conduct a search without a warrant. The man said he was at his home in Olokuta, Kemta, in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta between 3 am to 5 am, when some men forcefully broke into his house using a hammer.  He added that he was afraid they were armed robbers, so he hid in the guest bedroom with his pregnant wife as the men broke in through the sitting room window. According to him, the intruders claimed to be EFCC officials looking for "Yahoo boys", but they had no form of identification, neither did they have a search warrant.  Even without a search warrant, the victim alleged that they searched his house, damaged things, then left without as much as an apology.
