Nigerian Teenager Accepted by 8 Ivy League Schools Chooses Harvard University, Gets Widespread Applause

Weeks ago, Nigeria-born teenager, Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, received acceptance letters from 8 of the 12 Ivy League Schools she applied to. She was spoiled for choice, though she was burdened with deciding which of the top school she would finally go to.


CNN reports that Uwamanzu-Nna has finally made a choice to go to Harvard, the same Ivy League college Malia Obama chose. However, Obama will be joining in 2017.

Speaking at her school in Long Island, Uwamanzu-Nna said it was ‘exciting and surreal’ having to visit all 12 schools she applied for. However, making that decision was difficult, but she did it with an ‘open mind’ and is happy that the school has strong Nigerian presence.

"Yes my menses appeared 30 minutes to my performance and I had to put on a sanitary pad and still go on stage.
