Moniedafe, Olukanni, Ogedegbe, Ofoje mourn Keshi, Amodu

The death of two former Eagles coaches, Stephen Keshi and Shuaibu Amodu is still causing grief in the sports world, as some of their former teammates now living in the diaspora have opened a condolence register book in remembrance of their fallen heroes.

According to a statement issued by the Nigerian Ex-International Footballers Association,

(NEIFA)and signed by Paul Okoku, NEIFA’s President, Francis Moniedafe said the ex-internationals received with deep shock the passing on of Amodu and Keshi, who they eulogised for their great contributions to the development of Nigerian football, both as players and coaches.

While commiserating with the families of the deceased duo, Moniedafe said Keshi and Amodu touched the lives of many youngsters positively.

“The president of the Nigerian Ex-International Footballers Association, (NEIFA, Francis Moniedafe, Dr. Femi Olukanni, Nathaniel Ogedegbe and Ike Ofoje and other NEIFA members wish to express our deepest sympathy to the families of the late Stephen Keshi and the late coach Shuaibu Amodu for their sudden deaths. We pour our grief in remembrance of them.

“You will be greatly missed in Nigeria and in the continent of Africa, particularly, in the circle of footballers’ fraternity and sporting world because you contributed immensely to youth development in football effortlessly. You also touched the lives of many young men, in many positive ways.

“Your passing was shocking and felt around the globe. Therefore, we would like to see the possibility to Keep your memories alive by immortalizing you both deservedly, our departed heroes, our nations’ pride. This will ensure that the results of your efforts and excellence will linger on forever. We pray that God will give their respective families, friends and well wishers the fortitude to bear their losses. Particularly, the children they left behind”, the statement concluded
