BIZARRE MOMENT USA WOMEN'S RELAY TEAM RACE ALONE AT OLYMPICS AFTER BATON DROP
USA women's relay team will race in the 4x100m Olympic final after a dramatic afternoon on the track in Rio.
The quartet dropped the baton in their heat but appealed their disqualification after footage showed Allyson Felix being knocked off balance by Brazilian Kauiza Venancio as they attempted to pass the baton to teammate English Gardner.
Officials overturned their disqualification and they were given the opportunity to race on an empty track, with a target of beating the time set by eighth-fastest qualifiers China.
USA cruised into the final, and actually qualified for faster than any of their rivals, completing the relay in 41.77 seconds
