Kidnapped survivor Smart says porn made ordeal even worse
Kidnapping survivor Elizabeth Smart says pornography led to her captor raping her more than he already did in the nine months she was held.
Smart made the remarks in a video posted Friday by Fight the New Drug, an anti-pornography advocacy group.
In a new video released by anti-porn
non-profit "Fight the New Drug," Elizabeth Smart talks about the man who
kidnapped her when she was fourteen and his frequent engagement with
pornography, which now 28-year-old Smart says made her "living hell
worse."
She says, "He would just sit and look at it and stare at it, and he would just talk about these women, and then when he was done, he would turn and look at me, and he would be like, 'Now we're going to do this."
Brian David Mitchell broke into Smart's home in 2002 and stole the then-teenager from her bed, chaining her inside a campsite in the mountains. He starved her and raped her repeatedly for nine months before she was recognized and rescued in Sandy, Utah in March 2003.
