Man kills his 89-year-old mother and self in Santa Clara home

Santa Clara police found the bodies of a 68-year-old man and his 89-year-old mother Friday in a house in the 1000 block of Las Palmas Drive. Officials said the man shot his mother to death before taking his own life.


A 68-year-old man shot his 89-year-old mother to death before killing himself inside a Santa Clara home, police said Friday.
A concerned relative called police Friday to request a welfare check at the man’s home in the 1000 block of Las Palmas Drive.
Officers found the shooter and his mother dead inside one of the bedrooms about 8:55 a.m., said Lt. Dan Moreno, a Santa Clara Police Department spokesman.

Both suffered from gunshot wounds to the head, police said.

"Yes my menses appeared 30 minutes to my performance and I had to put on a sanitary pad and still go on stage. "Menstruation is not a shame and I urge all young women take a cue from my actions and not to let it stop them from doing anything they want to do."
