'Man slaughtered wife and three sons in murder-suicide stabbing' in family home

Alan Hawe

This is the first picture of a teacher found dead suspecting of slaughtering his wife and three sons in a murder-suicide at the family home.
Alan Hawe and wife Clodagh were found dead in the downstairs of the property by police before sons Liam, 13, Niall, 11 and six-year-old Ryan were discovered upstairs.
Police are understood to believe Mr Hawe stabbed his wife and three children to death before turning the knife on himself.

A worried relative raised the alarm before the bodies were found in Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan, Ireland at around 10.45am this morning.
Police say the family had been seen in the local community yesterday and officers had 'no reason to suspect anything was untoward' prior to the incident.

Assistant Commissioner John O'Disscoll told a press conference: "We believe all the answers are in that house and the most likely scenario is that one person in that house took the life of others.
"Nothing had happened prior to this grim discovery which gave rise to the Garda having any suspicion anything was untoward."
