A gang of balaclava-wearing thugs tried to raid Wayne Rooney 's £6million mansion - while he was playing in his own testimonial.
Police rushed to the star's huge Cheshire abode after the masked raiders set off the top-of-the-range alarm system.

The Manchester United player lives in the house with his wife Coleen and their three boys Kai, Klay and Kit.
Neighbours described the moment officers swooped on the hapless crooks as “like something out of an action film”.
The striker was playing at Old Trafford in a tribute game in his honour when the attempted burglary took place.
