CBN Stops $84,620 Transfer To Mikel's Account
Sportinglife has revealed exclusively that the move by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF's) marketers to remit $84,620 in Favour of John Mikel Obi has been scuttled by chieftains of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The CBN chiefs had informed the marketers that it is forbidden to transfer dollars between two people in Nigeria as a means of payment.
CBN has asked Mikel Obi to submit his Nigerian Account details for payments to be done in Naira using the approved banking rates and not black market rates. They also stated that such dollar transfer can only made when Mikel obi returns to England.
It was also gathered that the Sports Minister Solomon assented to the approval of the remittance of $84,620 being payment refund of the air tickets for players and officials presently in Ndola, ahead of Sundays Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers between Nigeria and Zambia slated for 1pm.
