Deceased’s belongings stolen at mortuary – Cape Town





mortuaryThe family of a deceased woman is livid after the woman’s belongings, worth an estimated R100000 has gone missing from a mortuary in Cape Town.
It is believed that the valuables had been stolen.
Barbara Carolus’s body was taken to Salt River Mortuary, and her valuables were also booked in at the establishment.
When her daughter, Shavonne Miller went to collect her mother’s belongings, the mortuary was unable to return them.
Mortuary documents have the valuables logged, and secured at the facility, according to EWN.
“They were not available to us at the time so we had to return on the Monday to collect her items. Barbara loved her jewellery and when we went back on Monday, they struggled to find it,” Miller told the publication.
A criminal case has been open with police.
