Do Not Believe All The Amazing Pictures On Social Media Says Fitness Blogger

This fitness blogger's side-by-side body photos are inspiring others to love themselves

Social media can be a great thing. But for all its benefits, it is also full of make-believe, with people only sharing their ‘best’ side, the side they want others to see.
For someone whose life is not perfect – and let’s face it, that’s most of us, right? – scrolling through endless photos of the perfect life can be pretty depressing, even if deep down we know it may not be all as it seems. You suck belle and snap picture does not change your real you.

One girl wanting to prove that social media isn’t all as it seems is Ashlie Mostad, the brains behind Foodie Girl Fitness.
31-year-old Ashlie is a blogger who’s hoping to open the eyes of those feeling disheartened and insecure because of social media.
And she’s doing that with two side-by-side pictures of herself taken at the same time in different poses and from different angles.

In the photo on the left, Ashlie shows us a ‘posed, put together, professional side’ of herself. On the right, a more relaxed version of Ashlie sits and smiles. This is what she also classes as the ‘not so flattering’ side.
She wrote: ‘I’m gonna make damn sure you see the not-so-flattering sides too. Because, contrary to what society has taught us to think, our worth isn’t measured by how many belly rolls we have, or how many dimples on our booty, or how much jiggle hangs out on our arms.’

Ashlie wants her photos to push people into loving themselves – noting that she knows this can be incredibly hard.
‘We’ve been told for years that we’re not good enough until we [insert any of the thousands of ideas of perfection that has been fed to us over the years],’ she wrote.

‘But I call BS. I say that the real magic happens when we embrace who we are, at every angle and size.’
