Muslim Woman Who Was Raped Faces Jail Term For Extra-Marital Affairs, British Rapist Goes Free.
The family of a UK tourist allegedly gang raped by two Brits while on holiday in Dubai say her life has been "shattered" as SHE faces jail over the attack.
The 25-year-old has been charged with having sex outside of marriage following the "brutal and violent" assault last month.
The woman told police she was attacked by two British men in the United Arab Emirates city last month.
But instead of being treated as a victim, the woman was reportedly locked up on suspicion of 'extra-marital sex', according to The Sun.
Her alleged attackers are believed to have flown back to Birmingham but the woman has reportedly had her passport confiscated and been barred from leaving the country.
She was freed on bail and must find £24,000 for legal fees, the newspaper reported.
Having sex outside of marriage is strictly prohibited in Sharia law and the woman - who cannot be named - could face a lengthy prison sentence. "Police regularly fail to differentiate between consensual intercourse and violent rape. Victims go to them expecting justice, and end up being prosecuted.
"They not only invalidate their victimisation, they actually punish them for it."
