A 16-year-old boy who vanished after going to buy eggs for a school project 30 years ago was murdered, police now believe.
Detectives today offered a £20,000 reward for help to find who killed Kevin Hicks, who disappeared after leaving his home in Croydon, south London, in March 1986.
His family spent three decades appealing for information about his whereabouts in the desperate hope that he was still alive.

 
But after investigating officers reviewed the case earlier this year, the Metropolitan Police today said it was "more than likely" Kevin was murdered.
Detective Inspector John McQuade, of the Met's murder squad, said: "Kevin simply disappeared that night and was never seen nor heard of again.
"We can only imagine what the intervening years must have been like for his family, years of worry and distress at not knowing what happened. Sadly, both his parents died without ever discovering the truth.
"Many enquiries have been carried out over the years but Kevin's body has never been found but there is no evidence he is still alive. We believe Kevin must have met someone that night, been assaulted and his body disposed of."

EFCC Officials Forcefully Break Into An Expectant Woman's House at 3am

An expectant father has accused EFCC officials of breaking into his home in the middle of the night to conduct a search without a warrant. The man said he was at his home in Olokuta, Kemta, in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta between 3 am to 5 am, when some men forcefully broke into his house using a hammer.  He added that he was afraid they were armed robbers, so he hid in the guest bedroom with his pregnant wife as the men broke in through the sitting room window. According to him, the intruders claimed to be EFCC officials looking for "Yahoo boys", but they had no form of identification, neither did they have a search warrant.  Even without a search warrant, the victim alleged that they searched his house, damaged things, then left without as much as an apology.
