Husband-to-be paralysed from waist down after freak accident in front of fiancée during joint stag and hen do

Brett, 39, had been playing football with pals when he told Meg he was going for a swim.
"Brett went into the water and all of a sudden my friend Kelsey says, ‘Why is Brett doing that? Why is he floating like that?’" Meg told People magazine.

"I was like, ‘I don’t know, he’s a goofball’ and she went to check on him."
Moments later Meg, 29, heard screams as her friend Kelsey, a nurse, realised something was seriously wrong.
Brett was carried from the water in distress.
He told his fiancée: "I can’t feel anything. Meg, I love you so much and I’m so sorry. I love you so much."
It is believed Brett may have hit his head on a sandbar hidden beneath the water as he jumped in.
He is paralysed from the neck down and doctors have said he has a one per cent chance of regaining mobility.
The couple had been planning to get married in February next year.
Instead they have been raising money to pay for Brett's future medical treatment.
A GoFundMe page has so far raised more than $84,000.
