Yahoo Finance lit up social media Thursday night after tweeting an offensive typo and later apologizing for the “spelling error.”
“Trump wants a much (expletive) navy,” the tweet read. According to some Twitter users, more than 20 minutes passed before the tweet disappeared from Yahoo Finance’s Twitter account. That was more than enough time for Archive.is to capture the web page. See the tweet after the cut...

Mike Murph tweeted, “The Yahoo Finance Twitter account has shown the world the importance of proofreading… yikes.”
“I may have goofed with some typos before but at least I’m not the person that runs the Yahoo Finance twitter,” added @Sadieisonfire.


Quite a few joked about an imminent open social media position at Yahoo Finance and the possible firing of all its interns. Others were quick to point out that the B and N are neighbors on the keyboard.
And Craig R. Brittain played off the tweet itself with a photo of the actor Mr. T and the words, “Yahoo Finance told me you were looking for strong black military leadership @realDonaldTrump, so I recommend Mr. T for Secretary of the Army.”
