Avenging Husband Hunts and Shoots Dead Driver Who Killed His Wife. Has Been Charged With Murder

A WIDOWER channelled Russell Crowe’s character in Gladiator before tracking down and shooting dead a driver who killed his wife.

Fabio Di Lello shot Italo D’Elisa, 22, and handed himself over to police after putting on Facebook a picture of Maximus Decimus Meridius from the 2000 film, reports The Sun.


D’Elisa was due to face manslaughter charges after allegedly running a red light and crashing into Roberta Smargiasi, 33, as she was riding her scooter last year.

But Di Lello, 34, found him outside a cafe in Vasto, Italy and shot him, police say.

He then placed the weapon, a 9mm pistol, on his wife’s grave, the UK Telegraph reports.

Lawyers for Di Lello, a baker and semi professional footballer, say he was concerned Italy’s dysfunctional courts could let his wife’s killer off.
