Awwwwww! European Union’s top Court Now Allows Employers to Ban Islamic Headscarves

EMPLOYERS may bar staff from wearing visible religious symbols, the European Union’s top court has ruled in its first decision on the issue of women wearing Islamic headscarves at work.


The EU’s Directive 200/78 prohibits “any direct or indirect” discrimination.
The directive stems from the EU’s Charter of Fundamental Rights adopted in 2000 as well as its much older Convention on Fundamental Rights and Freedoms dating back to Rome in 1950.

Article 9 of the 1950 convention says everyone has the right to “manifest his religion or belief, in worship, teaching, practice and observance.”

"Yes my menses appeared 30 minutes to my performance and I had to put on a sanitary pad and still go on stage. "Menstruation is not a shame and I urge all young women take a cue from my actions and not to let it stop them from doing anything they want to do."
