Girl Suffers Spinal Injury in 'joy ride' In A Stolen Ride

A teenage girl has a spinal fracture after a joy ride in a stolen car ended in a crash in southern NSW, police say.

The 14-year-old was one of three passengers, all minors, in the Nissan Sedan driven by an 18-year-old man when it left the road north of Cooma and rolled on Sunday morning.


The car was stolen from the ACT on Saturday and was involved in a number of offences between Canberra and Eden, police said.

Police charged the 18-year-old with a string of offences including driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and three counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct in a motor vehicle.

His licence was suspended and he will appear in Cooma Local Court in May.

The girl was airlifted to Canberra Hospital with a spinal fracture, police said.

The driver and other passengers were taken to Cooma Hospital but have since been released.
