Recall the Attorney Who spoke months ago on some challenges that confronted women, gender parity and how men should help liberate women? He indeed has proven that he stands with us women. I never knew the definition of meekness until i bashed into his office in a very embarrassing manner and his manner of approach captivated me till date. He is no other person than the sponsor  of the Eastern Bar Forum Unity Football Tournament, Arthur Obi-Okafor (SAN).

Oh! what a wonderful football tournament played by lawyers that day. I never knew that apart from the court there is another room where lawyers to go to change into jerseys and showcase their talents. Imagine young lawyers running round and kicking the ball. It was an event game.

What more can you expect from a SAN who is never at a loss for words at the bar and at same time find the time to bring the courtroom into the football court. In his usual manner he has once again come out to join forces with women and has congratulated the International Federation of Women Lawyers, liberative Women Organizations and women in general on the celebration of the 2017 International women’s day.

When we women hear a man speak up for us women, we get a ring-around-the-roses kinda feeling, it gives us a sense of relaxation to know that he got our back. It puts us in a position to always want to go back to the kitchen irrespective of the position we are in, in the society. He makes us realize how special we are and in return we are ready to give back to our men the respect, care, love and dignity he deserves back in the home irrespective of the position we hold.

In his own words as culled up from themetrolawyer.com The learned silk said “the International women’s day reminds us of our collective responsibility to eradicate discrimination and violence against women”.

According to him, Nigeria cannot truly develop without women. “I stand with you” he said.

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

The Nigerian Women stand with you as you have stood by us all these years.
