People Share Their Real Life Horror Stories (and they'll make your hair stand on end)

 
Hundreds of people took to Reddit to share the most terrifying thing they had ever experienced in a spine-chilling thread that is not for the faint-hearted.

Some recounted seemingly supernatural happenings, from a 'haunted' television set
to unexplained noises in the front room. Others shocked readers with their real-life horror stories, from a thwarted break-in to an apparent murder attempt.

A homeowner described what appeared to be a ghostly visitor, writing: 'In a closet in our bathroom on a two occasions, we've discovered clothes that obviously didn't belong to either of us (my wife and I).'

One user recalled this story from when he stayed in his late great-grandmother's house. He posted: 'The hallway closet door swung open and the light turned on, my aunt said "cut it out grandma" then the light shut off and the door closed.'

However others had horribly real stories to tell. One man who used to live in a 'rough neighbourhood' described how one night his mother was woken by the sound of someone knocking on the front door. She didn't go out, and phoned the police.  

The Reddit user continued: 'After [the police] search, they tell my mom that they had found a piece of barbwire about 4 feet long next to the front door and asked if it belonged to her. She said that it wasn't hers. 

'The cop told her it belonged to whoever was knocking on the door and that they were planning to strangle my mom with the barbwire when she opened the door to see who was knocking.'

Utterly bizarre: This user was the victim of a very unusual burglar who stole her diaries.
