Two dead and dozens rescued as huge fire takes hold at Cheshunt care home

Two people have been killed and dozens rescued after a fire at a care home.
It’s believed the blaze was started at around 5.30am at the elderly people’s home, which has around 35 residents.
Pictures from the scene show fire fighters tackling the flames at the Newgrange Residential care home in cadmore Lane, Cheshunt.
Firefighters from three services rushed to the scene, as crews from Hertfordshire, Essex and London fought side by side to contain the fire.
Police have closed off the area and are treating it as a ‘crime scene’.
Rescuers including care staff, firefighters, police and paramedics assisted residents from the affected building before moving them to the safety of a nearby hotel.
