Woman who plunged into Thames during Westminster attack has died

Andreea Cristea, the woman who plunged into the Thames during Khalid Masood’s attack on London has died of her injuries.

The 31-year-old Romanian’s death was confirmed by Scotland Yard.
She had been receiving medical treatment in hospital following the attack and life support was withdrawn on Thursday, 6 April.

She had been visiting London with her boyfriend, Andrei Burnaz, who suffered a broken foot in the attack. It’s believed he was going to propose during their trip to London.


A statement from the family of Andreea Cristea, together with Burnaz, her partner said:
‘After fighting for her life for over two weeks, our beloved and irreplaceable Andreea – wonderful daughter, sister, partner, dedicated friend and the most unique and life loving person you can imagine – was cruelly and brutally ripped away from our lives in the most heartless and spiritless way.
