Donald Trump fires FBI director James Comey
A White House statement said he had been ‘terminated and removed from office’.
President Trump said Mr Comey’s firing ‘will mark a new beginning’ for the FBI.
The move was necessary to restore ‘public trust and confidence’, Trump claimed.
‘The FBI is one of our nation’s most cherished and respected institutions, and today will mark a new beginning for our crown jewel of law enforcement,’ he said in a statement.

 The White House said the search for a new FBI director was beginning immediately.
The White House made the stunning announcement shortly after the FBI corrected a sentence in Mr Comey’s sworn testimony on Capitol Hill last week.
Mr Comey told politicians that Huma Abedin, a top aide to Hillary Clinton, had sent ‘hundreds and thousands’ of emails to her husband’s laptop, including some with classified information.

"Yes my menses appeared 30 minutes to my performance and I had to put on a sanitary pad and still go on stage. "Menstruation is not a shame and I urge all young women take a cue from my actions and not to let it stop them from doing anything they want to do."
