Mother, 3 Children Die In Lagos Fire

This is so sad. What is the struggles of life for? Vanity indeed. Tragedy struck on Thursday in Surulere area of Lagos when fire gutted a
set of shops, killing mother, three children and destroyed properties,
goods worth millions of Naira.
It was learnt that the tragic incident occurred at about
2:38 am at B23 Ogunleye Street off Adekunle Kuye Street, Kilo Bus Stop
Surulere and left the residents in the mourning mood.
The mother was identified as Hope, and the three
children: Female- Chukwuka, 9, Male- Nonso 7, and Male- Ugochukwu,6,
while the father was identified as Ignatius. The family was said to have
been residing in one of the shops used for laundry services.
While the woman and the children died on
the spot, Ignatius, who sustained first degree burns, died at the Lagos
State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
Witnesses said they were caught in the fire while sleeping in one of the shops affected by the fire.
Confirming incident, the General Manager of Lagos State
Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA), Mr. Tiamiyu Adesina, said the
agency’s emergency response team received a distress call via the
emergency number and swung into action. Whether their action was timely? Well you know better.
Although the immediate cause of the
inferno could not be ascertained, it was said that the sound of
explosion was heard from the family’s shop shortly after electricity was
restored in the area.
