Woman Raped After Stopping to Check Tire

New Orleans police are investigating the worrisome reported rape of a 37-year-old woman who said she was dragged behind a "storage box" near Desire area train tracks after stopping to check her vehicle tire, the department said.

Police were called at 12:07 a.m. Sunday (April 23) to France Road and Almonaster Avenue, NOPD said in a preliminary report. The woman told investigators she pulled over there to check her tire. When she did, a man came and grabbed her from behind, said NOPD spokeswoman Dawne Massey.

The man dragged the woman behind a "metal storage box" near the train tracks, Massey said, where he sexually assaulted her. Police did not provide a detailed description of the suspect.
