Memories from the Criminal Justice Reform Conference 2018 & NBA Asaba 2018 Law Week With International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Delta State in Attendance

The Criminal Justice reform Conference 2018 may have come and gone but the memories lives on.

The International Federation of Women Lawyers Delta state branch were in attendance in their numbers and whose presence lightened up the event.

For what it is what, the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, Delta state was applauded as it's provisions now allow female surety asagainst the Criminal code which dis-allowed women from standing as surety.

The Hon. Chairperson, Mrs Oki Omezi was in attendance with members and they participated in all the plenary sessions.

Also at the NBA Asaba 2018 Law Week  kicked off on the 17th - 19th April at the NBA House (Bar Centre). We are delighted for the recipients of the 'Distinguished Bar Man' Award who were announced at the Dinner / Award Night of the Law week.

Following the backlash that trailed her performance at Shatta Wale's Reign Concert over the weekend, Ghanaian singer,  Fantana  has now released a statement.  The singer stated that she is not ashamed of being a woman and also mesntruating. Her statement read in part;  "Regardless of my costume being transparent, my only option was to put on a sanitary pad and still go ahead to perform. I am a woman and I’m not ashamed of menstruating. "I want to urge every woman to resist being discriminated against because of menstruation. I hope some people read wide and learn about menstrual health to stop the stereotype against young girls and women. "Yes my menses appeared 30 minutes to my performance and I had to put on a sanitary pad and still go on stage. "Menstruation is not a shame and I urge all young women take a cue from my actions and not to let it stop them from doing anything they want to do."

Over the weeks now Nigerians are being saddled with the news about the police refusing to leave the premises of a serving Senator, Dino Melaye, but some Nigerians online expect that this over-zealousness at getting the Senator could possibly be used in securing lives and properties of Nigerians on a daily basis. What are his friends saying about this? why is there silence over this issue? Whose toes has the serving senator stepped on? According to Senator Ben Bruce he alleged that; officers of the Nigeria Police are making attempt to kill Dino Melaye with tear gas in his house. lawmaker representing Bayelsa East in the upper chamber of the National Assembly also wrote that the Police is aware of an ailment (Asthma) Senator Dino Melaye suffers from and so intend to either snuff him out or kill him right there in his resident.
