FIDA DELTA PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO THE CHIEF WHIP DELTA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY. HON PRINCESS (EVANG) PAT AJUDUA.

The courtesy call was made on the 16th of May 2018. FIDA Delta was well represented by Our Chairperson Her Honour L. O Omezi(Mrs), Our own Elder Dr Mrs Evelyn Aluta, Able PRO Stella Maris Mejulu, I.N Inalu (Asst. Sec.), R. O Okonyia(Mrs) Asst Fin. Sec, Elvon Ezie(Mrs), Ebbah Onome(Mrs) and Ifediora Uche .



While giving her Address, the Chairperson thanked the Chief Whip for all the support and encouragement she has given to FIDA Delta over the years. The main reason for the Courtesy visit was for the  introduction of the VAPP (Violence Against Persons Prohibition) Act 2015 in order to ensure that it is passed by the Delta State house of Assembly. And to appeal to the Hon. Chief whip to be at the fore front when FIDA Delta takes the Bill to the Hon. Speaker.

 Chairperson stated that the VAPP Act covers so many aspects of violence and sexual offences which were not specifically outlined in the present Criminal Laws. She mentioned some specific contemporary provisions of the VAPP Act and the noticeable expansion made in the definition of Rape , Electoral violence, Psychological torture and abuse under domestic violence etc. The chairperson informed everyone that our neighbouring sister state, Anambra State has just recently adopted the VAPP Act. Delta State should not be too far behind.
She also called on the ChiefWhip to support the upcoming FIDA Programmes and NEC coming up in July this year.

In response the Chief Whip thanked FIDA Delta for the courtesy visit and expressed so much joy at the good  work FIDA Delta has been doing. She said a law such as the VAPP Act should be adopted in Delta State and pledged to do everything within her power ensure that the VAPP Act is adopted in Delta State. She encouraged FIDA not to relent in her good work and not to be afraid to carry out any activity because she is ready at all times to back FIDA Delta up. She pledged financial and material support for the FIDA NEC hosting in Delta State.

Our own articulate Elder Dr  Mrs Aluta gave the Vote of thanks and said she too must commend the Chairperson and FIDA Delta as a whole for bringing FIDA back to limelight. She thanked the Hon. Chief whip for the financial donation and pledge and encouraged her not to relent in doing good.
